Details

We’re working to pass the Fair Share Amendment to build an economy that works for all of us — and we want you to join us.

The ballot question would create a 4 percent tax on annual income above $1 million and dedicate the funds raised to transportation and public education. Only people who earn more than $1 million annually will be impacted; 99% of us won’t pay a penny more. And we’ll all benefit from better schools, roads, bridges, and public transportation

We’re building a robust field program that will reach voters across our Commonwealth leading up to the November Election.

Will you sign up to volunteer with the Fair Share for Massachusetts? We’ll be hosting canvasses, phone banks, and volunteer events across the Commonwealth — we’d love to have you on our team.’

Standout Dock Sq July 9 11-12

Dear All,

A women’s right to bodily autonomy still has not been codified and our nation still has failed to come up with effective or meaningful ways to address gun violence. Naomi will be out at Dock Sq tomorrow and invites all who can to join her

Synergistic Solutions

Independence can take a lot of forms.

One form is freedom from the grip of old and no longer relevant arguments.

Project Drawdown has just published Climate–Poverty Connections: Opportunities for synergistic solutions at the intersection of planetary and human well-being, described as “This first-of-its-kind report produced by Drawdown Lift shows that leaders do not have to choose among human development, climate mitigation, and climate adaptation; win-win solutions are at hand.”

Local to Rockport, we need to continue to reject the idea that we must choose between people and trees, or people and fish.

There are Synergistic Solutions.

We can find them and apply them.

Have a great holiday!

Update from Team Moulton

—————

Hello Team Moulton,
First off, a big THANK YOU to all of the supporters who came to join Seth in the North Shore Pride parade last weekend. It was a huge success, and we had one of the largest contingents in the entire parade. (Check out and share Seth’s Pride post here!)
On a more somber note, we know that there is a long, hard fight ahead regarding abortion rights and the Supreme Court’s recent rollback of Roe v Wade. To that end, beyond the legislative and community activism that Seth is committed to doing, we’ve compiled a list of pro-abortion organizations that are doing good work and could use financial assistance. You can find that list here. Please give what you can.

Coming up, we have two upcoming actions that we need YOU to join us for. Please sign up for one of them below, and share them with your networks.

Team Moulton Roadtrip to NH
Sunday, July 10th, 2pm

We are also excited to announce that Seth has made another endorsement, supporting his friend State Rep. Paul Tucker in his race to be the next Essex County District Attorney. You can read more on that here
In case you missed it, Seth was a guest on the Doing the Right Thing podcast, where he talked about his team’s efforts to help our Afghan allies. It’s a short 20-minute interview, and worth the listen!
We also want to give a quick shoutout to our super volunteer, Mark McGlone, for writing this supportive and persuasive letter in the Wilmington Apple on Seth’s foreign policy expertise. Thanks Mark!
Regards,Team Moulton

Standout Today June 25 – Dock Sq 11am

From the chair last evening:

Dear fellow RDYC members,

Today was a dark day for our nation, and while it is tempting to place the blame on the Orange pustule that occupied the White House during the last administration we, as a party, must admit our failings and how those contributed to today’s catastrophic SCOTUS ruling. We’ve had 50 years to codify Roe v Wade but we didn’t.  We, at one time, had a supermajority in both the House and Senate and still we failed to codify Roe v Wade. And just last month, in Texas, our Party Leaders came out in force to back Pro-gun, anti-abortion Henry Cuellar VS pro gun controll pro a woman’s right to choose, Jessica Cisneros.

On a very personal note, if abortion for any reason had been banned here, as it is in Afghanistan and Malta (https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/wellness/american-woman-to-be-air-lifted-out-of-malta-after-being-denied-life-saving-abortion/ar-AAYNwmr?li=BBnbfcL) I would be a widow and Pina and Fede would never have been born.  How on earth can those who are celebrating today’s decision claim they are “pro life”???

Yesterday’s decision to strike down NY’s gun law that had been saving lives since 1911 and the implication of what SCOTUS may do to our own rights is terrifying. When we see how today’s ruling included a foreshadowing of the next rights to be targeted I fear that this week is only the beginning of the USA’s own dark ages and, given the ages of three Supreme Court Justices, this dark period could last longer than I have on this earth.

But “could” is a marvelous word and it’s why I’m writing to you today.  It would be easy to give up, it would be easy (and privileged) to move to another nation but, at the risk of sounding overly patriotic, in the flickering light of the figurative flames from our burning constitution I can still catch glimpses of the good so many of us have fought for for so long. My hope is not yet spent and I trust that in each of us there is still some too. We can still fix this but it will not be easy. We must commit to only supporting those with the courage to not only stand for what we believe in but are willing to fight for it. We cannot allow ourselves to be tempted by easy paths like Cuellar, Manchin or Sinema.  I still have some fight left in me and while I do have to leave tomorrow for a difficult trip I am grateful for the passion and constancy of our Naomi and Hope. To not miss my flight, i have to leave at 12 but I will be there at 11:00, tomorrow (Saturday), in Dock Square with Naomi and Hope, I will be there because we can not let them think for a second that we’re defeated, I will be there because Pina deserves to have access to the same lifesaving procedure that saved her mamma, and I will be there with Hope and Naoimi because together we are stronger. I hope you’ll join them too.

In passionately felt solidarity

Nat
